Monir Hossain, an accomplished businessman, journalist, columnist and active member of Montreal's Bangladeshi community, is very proud of his Bangladeshi-Canadian heritage and constantly looks to find ways of contributing and integrating with the community as a mean of giving back and in turn helping others to do the same.In 2003, Monir founded and was elected President of the National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC). He also serves as founding Chairman of the Federation of Bangladesh Association in Canada (FOBACA), and is a Coordinator of Parc-Extension Canada Day Celebration. He also serves as Director of Bangal Academy Montreal.In addition to serving many organizations that reinforce the values of the community, Monir is active in organizing community and political events. In the last few years these have included the Montreal Intercultural Festival 2007 and the Pie (Pitha) festival 2004. He served as the executive planning teamfor the 400 Years Celebration of Dhaka in 2008. In both his work and community endeavors, Monir remains focused on the goal of helping to preserve, maintain, and pass along Bangladeshi traditions and culture to future generations and to assist in contributing to Canada’s growth by connecting people culturally and socially as a mean of building our community.
