The Bangladesh Day Award (Canada) Plaque Medal
সবাংলাদেশ ডে পদক (কানাডা)is the prestigious form of recognition that can be granted by the National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council. It recognizes individuals of Bangladeshi-Canadian and non-Bangladeshi descent, as well as institutions and organizations, for their outstanding national contribution towards the development of the Bangladeshi Canadian community.
Award categories for medals are:
♦ Community Development
♦ Outstanding leadership that contributes to the growth of the community;
♦ Culture and the Arts
♦ Outstanding achievement in the field of visual arts (including film and media), performing arts (music, dance, theatre), literary arts and heritage (museums, archives, research);
♦ Education
♦ Outstanding achievement in the field of pre-school, primary, secondary and post-secondary education, extension services and non-traditional education programs;
♦ Sport
Outstanding achievement in sport through participatory leadership or the development of community programs.
Outstanding achievement can be measured by the nominees’ level of excellence and initiative, their sustained body of work, peer recognition and the nominees’ broad impact inside and outside the Bangladeshi Canadian community.
Up to three medals are presented in each category during the National Convention of Bangladeshi-Canadians.
